OVERVIEW
Bolivar Peninsula Charities is an initiative aimed at supporting the residents of the Bolivar Peninsula, from Port Bolivar to High Island. This endowment will provide vital resources and funding to enhance the quality of life for the local community. The Bolivar Peninsula Charities is designed to address a variety of needs within the community, including educational scholarships and support for local organizations.

PROGRAMS

LEARN MORE TO EARN MORE

Grants for Peninsula Residents of all ages to attend a university, community college, trade school or accredited courses for the purpose of career improvement or enhanced employment opportunity.

TEACHER EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance for teachers from Crenshaw School and High Island School to attend classes for career improvement.

YOUTH HORIZONS

Grants for Peninsula youth to attend educational camps. The youth of Bolivar Peninsula do not have the same educational opportunities afforded youth of more developed areas. Educational camps provide learning and character building programs to underserved youth.

PENINSULA PROJECTWORKS

Grants for local schools, charitable and faith based organizations offering programs consistent with the goals of Bolivar Peninsula Charities.

A HAND UP

One-time emergency disbursements to help Peninsula residents who have a temporary financial challenge.

BOLIVAR PENINSULA CHARITIES APPLICATION PROCESS
Bolivar Peninsula Charities recruits potential recipients of Grants through consultation with local business’, church leaders, school principals and counselors, presentations at public meetings, media articles, postings throughout the community and at the annual Mother’s Day Weekend Texas Crab Festival.

 

Applicant must submit the application completely and include all documents requested in order to be considered for a Financial assistance/Grant award. Applications are available online:

SELECTION AND EVALUATION CRITERIA
Bolivar Peninsula Charities Board of Directors serves as Selection Committee to recommend based on:

  • Peninsula Residency
  • Financial Need (including special circumstances)
  • Future Plans and Ambition
  • Written Recommendations
Bolivar Peninsula Charities Grant Applicant will signify agreement and certify that all responses are true and factual on Application form as indicated. Bolivar Peninsula Charities Committee will notify applicant once the review and scoring process is complete. If awarded a Bolivar Peninsula Charities Grant, Bolivar Peninsula Charities Treasurer will send a “Letter of Acceptance” identifying responsibility and accountability requirements.
The number of grants awarded annually will be determined by the total funding available resulting from all Bolivar Peninsula Charities fundraising activities. Progress of recipients is monitored and regularly reviewed. If applicant does not complete commitments as agreed, the Selection Committee has the right to return the remainder of the Grant designated back to the Bolivar Peninsula Charities reserve funds.
